San Miguel de Allende was founded by Fray Juan de San Miguel over 450 years ago. San Miguel de Allende besides enjoying one the best climates in the world, is a bright, seducing and fascinating city; full of cultural riches. In only a brief stroll through the historic downtown area one comes to see that this Mexican national treasure is a marvel of architectural preservation. The historic zone, which includes stunning examples of Colonial 19th century buildings, brings visitors back to another time in history.
